2008 Newsletter for Black Bear Camp

Another year has come and gone. It was a very busy year, and now Tom has gone back down south to work at Chrysler and will hopefully get his buy-out package in the new year. Our son Shawn got married in July to Krista. They’re both living up here in Espanola. The weather was great this past year, with full cabins from May to August.

The fall bear hunt went well this year. Congratulations to Richard Hogel for getting the largest bear. All together there were 26 hunters and 19 bears harvested. It was a 92% success rate. We are quickly filling up for 2008 bear hunt. Thanks to Jim Kelly, Tom Proctor and Shawn Fair for all your help with the bear hunt.

Cabins are booking up quickly; we already have some full weeks for 2008. So please call and book as soon as possible so you won’t be disappointed.

We have been taking lots of new pictures for our website this year. Make sure to check out our web page at www.blackbearcamp.com. You may be a Black Bear Camp web star!

The fishing was good this year. ATV’ing continues to grow as we have a lot of great trails for all ages.

Congratulations to Lola and Gene Miller for getting a bull moose. Congratulations to Jim Kelly and group who also got a calf moose. The weather was not great for the moose hunters this year with lots of rain. Hopefully next year will be better.

A very special thanks to our devoted staff Melissa, Shirley, Andrea, Krista, Kayla and Janice. Thanks to all our family and friends for your help as well. We could not have done it without all of you…

Also thanks to Dave and Shawn Fair for their annual pig roast. It was a big hit with everyone, and we are looking forward to this year.

Thanks again for making our year a great one. We would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and Happy New Year.
