Black Bear Camp Annual Newsletter 2009

Well another year is coming to an end. 2009 was a good year. In June we had an addition to our family, a Karelain Bear dog named Kaija. She is very eager to go out hunting and tracking bears this fall with Tom. On July 1st weekend, we had our annual fishing derby. The weather was great and we had around 33 people participating, with 1 winner - Bob McCormick, receiving the prize for the largest fish - a bass weighing in at 2lbs 9oz, with a prize payout of over $300. Also is July we had a new addition to our family with our first grandson, Zachary James Thomas born on July 24th, weighing in at 9lb 4oz, born to our son Shawn and his wife Krista.

On the August long weekend, we had another visit from Santa. He spent time handing out gifts to the kids and joined them for hotdogs. It was a great time - Thanks again Santa, you made the kids very happy again this year. It was a rainy day for our annual Pig Roast hosted by Dave Fair and family but we all braved the weather and enjoyed our day. Thanks again Dave!

Our 2009 Bear Hunt began with 14 hunters and 10 bears shot. Numbers for the hunt were down this year, but the hunt is filling up quickly for 2010. So please call and reserve a spot so you won't be disappointed. Congratulations to Travis Adair who shot the biggest bear, weighing in at 169lbs. Way to go Travis!

A special thanks goes out to all of our staff this year who did a great job! We could not have done it without all of you. All in all, 2009 was a good year, but it will be an even better year in 2010! We are looking forward to seeing all of you back again this year.

Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year
