Brook Trout Fishing

Brook Trout, also called the Speckled Trout, is one of the most beautiful fish in North America. They are much smaller in size from other fish but the joy of walking up and down a scenic northern stream just adds to the adventure of finding these sometimes elusive fish. Brook Trout are also the best tasting of the Trout Family.

At Black Bear Camp, we have many local streams and the famous Wakonassin River, which will give you the chance to not only catch good numbers but big size Brook Trout. Our guests are catching lots of small eating size and bigger trophy sizes in the 2 to 3 pound range.

The limit for Brook Trout is 5 if you do not have any Lake Trout. If you had 1 Lake Trout then you will only be able to keep 4 Brook Trout for a total of 5 trout. Brook Trout season is open January 1 to September 30. We also have Splake in the area which is a cross between a Brook Trout and a Lake Trout. The season is open all year and the limit is the same as Brook Trout Please read Brook Trout Fishing Tips
