Duck & Goose Hunting Duck and Canada Geese are all over the area in the Fall. The birds come down from the Arctic after feeding in the rich tundra ponds and lakes. Ducks and geese taste so much better when you get them in the north because flying south toughens up the meat and by the time they get down south their meat is dry and "gamey". You have to get them in the north while their fresh. We do not have an organized duck hunt so hunters pay the regular cabin or camping rates and must create their own blinds. Duck season runs from September 8 to December 20. Canada Goose season runs from September 1 to December. 31
