BOATS, MOTORS, GAS and OIL: You can bring your own boat but for those who do not want to drag their boat with them, you can rent a boat and motor from us. We have 14 foot aluminum boats with Johnson 9.9 Hp for rent. You must reserve a boat when you book your trip. Our boats and motors are serviced on a regular basis to ensure quality operation and safety. Gas and oil is also for sale from our store.

NEW LIFE JACKET LAWS: There are new laws in effect. A seat cushion is no longer to be used as a life preserver. Only an American or Canadian Coast Guard approved life jacket can be used. We recommend bringing your child's own life jacket to ensure a proper fit and safety. You can still use the cushion to sit on.

NEW BOAT LAWS: A water safety kit must be with every boat. The kit consist of a water-proof flashlight, whistle or air horn, a minimum 30 foot rope with a floatation device attached and a first aid kit. This is in addition to the equipment list of the past which includes paddle, anchor, bailing tin and a fire extinguisher for boats with internal gas tanks.

FISHING LICENSES: There are two types of fishing licenses available. There is a regular Sport License to which the regular limits apply. There is also a conservation license which cost less but lowers the possession limits. You can buy your license here at Black Bear Camp.

BAIT: You can buy your bait here at Black Bear Camp. We have night crawlers (worms), leaches and minnows. There are lots of local streams where you can catch minnows and crawfish. You have to bring your own minnow pail. If you want to fish for Whitefish, you may want to buy some Wax Worms down south as they are really hard to get in the north. If your local bait store does not have them, try a pet shop that sells fish.

TACKLE: Here at Black Bear Camps, we have an excellent selection of tackle and keep extra inventory of what's hot at the time of year of your visit. If you want to know what to bring, please read our fishing tip articles.
