Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Smallmouth Bass are by far the hardest fighting fish pound for pound. They are well know for their fight and for jumping clear into the air just after they hit your lure or bait. Birch Lake, a northern rocky Canadian Shield lake, is the perfect habitat for Smallmouth. We have a high population of Smallmouth Bass with good size fish. Our guests catch lots of bass in the 3 to 5 pound range with the odd 6 to 7 pound trophy coming in.

The limit for Smallmouth Bass is 6. The season is open last Saturday in June to November 30. Smallmouth Bass have different behavior from other species of bass and are very sensitive to wind, air pressure and light intensity. To help out, please read Smallmouth Bass Fishing Tips
